‘I’m Gonna Sit in The Passenger Seat and Warm it Up For You’

I was planning to start this post with ‘It’s been a while’ but I think I said that last time. Here is a photo of the talented actor and photographer @vontrepkas. Despite his devilishly good looks and cool sunglasses, it’s always a bit weird taking a photo of a photographer. What if he doesn’t like the photo? What if his lens is bigger than mine? What if Chelsea football club have to rename themselves as London FC? So many questions like these often keep me up for an extra 25 minutes every night. Not Friday’s though, that’s when I get a takeaway. Did you know rather than going through Just Eat or Uber Eats, if you call the restaurant directly, you will get the same food but cheaper. It always tastes better too because the little sprinkle of F*** the system always improves the flavour of the dish. Talking of dishes, the man in the photo is also Greek like me, I wonder who has smashed the most plates between us? Before I go, I have to mention that this photo gives me nostalgic memories of when I used to visit my aunties hair salon. In those days you were given a book and could choose a hairstyle, but that wasn’t the best part. The swivel chairs were a fantastic way to see the world in 360 motion. I have lots more photographs to come. So stay tuned, unless there’s un-skippable adverts. In that case, change the channel.

‘Sorry Didn’t Mean to Snap’

Hey everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Happy New Year, have you ever wondered why we say ‘Happy’ New year? Wouldn’t it be more efficient to greet someone with ‘New Year’ and they respond with ‘This makes me happy’. What even is happiness? A word to describe joy when successful moments occur? Is it like the feeling you get when you win 2 out of every 3 games of naughts and crosses? Or when you finally decide to toast your bread and can successfully butter it without breaking apart? (Also helps when the bread doesn’t tear too). I had a successful year, despite being quiet, my film festival went very well and I still managed to fit in some shoots in between. Here is a photo of the lovely @macadie.amoroso from the set of @anniesharedherlocation . This was a great shoot and directed by the very talented @natalieavanasr and @cyrus_mirzashafa . I had a good time on this shoot, it was my second shoot in one day and I actually managed to remember that I locked my car without having to double check both times. Great success. This year I will be doing more shoots and looking forward to sharing more joy with you and hopefully by the end of the year we will be able to answer some of life’s most complicated questions, things like ‘Who invented wood?’ ‘Why do pears have such a bad reputation?’ Or ‘why haven’t I ever seen my neighbours come home with groceries?’ Xx

Since it’s Halloween, here’s a photo I took this time last year of @sassanmontell tied down to chair on the set of Mike Myers by @swiftabeater - Who would have guessed back then, that we would now all be tied down to a virus which has relentlessly attempted to f*ck us without consent. I’m pleased to say that on this shoot we were very well prepared, the team at @catalyst.management made sure everyone was wearing a mask, even if they were a little scary. It’s important to plan ahead for what’s to come. I’m currently sitting here waiting for a message from our government about a second lockdown and they’re late. If only I was prepared I could have quickly popped to Lagos, fought SARS, grabbed some groundnuts, hot pepper soup and make it back just in time to hear what Boris has to say.

It’s been a while. Hello strangers. Here is a photo I took of the talented model @skinskribble in a local jungle near Greenwich. It’s been a very difficult year, it started quite a few months back when there was no toilet paper in the supermarkets, I had to use my sodoku book to wipe and this means that nobody will ever know of my achievements. I reached page 35, that’s just over half way of the medium difficulty. Anyways, we went into lockdown and I got bored so I started a film festival so I can watch films because Netflix is expensive. I recently saw a picture of a lady called Fatimah which inspired me to take on a new career and now I’m very good at polishing apples, I can do pears but still need some time to perfect the craft. So as a wise friend once said, Live, Laugh, Look at my photos or I will come to your house and steal your apples.

I took this photo before coronavirus and the current protests for BLM. Lockdown had quite an impact on our mental health but in reality many people suffered from feeling isolated in everyday life. It’s been a while since posting (photography). So here is a photo I took pre-covid times. Sometimes we just feel low and it’s easy to recognise but hard to pinpoint why. When we are low, we see the world differently, for example you could look at a thorn bush and instantly relate to feeling trapped. Sometimes, you might acknowledge the beauty in the world, like the smell of freshly painted graffiti or the sight of a dog doing it’s maths homework. I think no matter where you are in the world, or how you may feel, the best advice I can give is that, if your self confidence is low, don’t worry, Boris, Kim and Trump are using the sh*t barber, so the good one is available.

Here we have lighting god @david_witchell smoking up the set. This can be achieved many ways, but since Snoop Dogg was unavailable we decided to go for this smoke machine that looks like a flamethrower. The amount of smoke reminds me of when I went to a shisha bar in east London, hygiene was quite a concern for me as I am not used to collaboratively sucking off pipes with other blokes. I know it might be controversial but I am more partial to shish kebab. Interesting fact, in south Cyprus if you ask for lamb shish kebab they will look at you confused as the Greek people only eat it as bigger chunks of Souvla. Don’t worry if meat isn’t your thing though, Greek people make amazing vegetarian/vegan dishes too. My favourite vegetable is sweetcorn. F**k me, writing this caption is hard, I’m hungry af. .

‘Can I see through your frame?’

Here’s another photo I took of nice guy @thelowgram framed through the vision of @gcavafoto . Framing your shots is important. If you don’t frame them properly, they might be too big and not fit on your screen. That’s why I always make a point to show control and frame my work properly. There was an incident once where the frame did not listen to me and I had to call the police, but I won’t get into that right now. Just as important as framing, is your subject. Make sure your subject is comfortable and if they forgot to bring matching socks, have a spare pair on standby.

Here is a sneaky photo of @thelowgram while he was waiting for the crew to reset on the set of @redbegoniashort directed by @kittycat_tirza and @carmenquezarte. Now I’ve been watching a Dutch horror show on Netflix called ‘Ares’, it’s creepy af. This photo reminds me of that show, luckily my mate Paul isn’t as creepy as those people. He’s a nice guy and recommend a movie called ‘good time’. It’s funny because throughout the movie, nobody has a good time, maybe apart from this girl who gets to kiss Robert Pattinson. Good times are quite rare in this day and age, most of the time you have to pay £13.99 a month and hope someone reminds you to take your socks off when you go to bed. Despite what you’re going through, stay positive, even if your socks are still on and it’s just a bit too hot, you can always take them off, unless you’re wearing tights, then you’re fucked.

So I was walking in the park and I saw this tree. It scared the s*** out of me. Not sure if it was having a bad hair day or going through the menopause but it’s tall overpowering presence reminded me of when the demogorgon took my friend Will and forced him to learn pottery. To be fair, now thinking about it, that might have been Stranger Things. Either way, if you ever come across a dark tree in a park and it asks you what you’re thoughts are on modern ceramics. RUN.

Wow, I wouldn’t mind living here, the view must be amazing. I am afraid of heights though, so those stairs would be tricky to climb after a shop down Lidl on a Tuesday afternoon. However, my main problem as a creative person would be the space. I need space to think and spread my creative thoughts, this is why I would not do well in prison. I mean prison is tough but it’s not the worst thing that could happen, imagine being a colourblind photographer, that would be difficult. .

I wish I was a powerful woman, I have met many in my time and their powerful presence is inspiring. I tried to inspire people once and get them not to vote for brexit. I ended up with mr blobby as our prime minister instead.

‘Survival’

This handsome man is my uncle. I’m very lucky to have a cool uncle like this. I heard that he is so manly that he goes into the wild and bears offer to iron his clothes. He is also a very caring person and taught me that no matter how tough you are, you are still allowed to feel. I named this photo survival because he drove me up a crazy mountain to get some berries from a tree, he said one word to me during that entire journey - ‘Survival’.
